SEO for your Skool About page: clarity before keywords

Your About page should explain who should join and why. Public availability does not guarantee Google will crawl, index, or rank it.

SEO for your Skool About page: clarity before keywords

Optimize your public About page so someone can understand the community before requesting access. Describe its audience, the problem it addresses, how participation works, and the next step. This is not the same as optimizing private posts: Google cannot read protected content that requires a login. A page being public also does not guarantee that it will appear in search results.

First check what an outside visitor can see

Open the About URL in a private browser window and review the text, images, links, and joining process on mobile. This checks the logged-out experience; it does not replace a technical crawl diagnosis. Google distinguishes crawling from indexing: robots.txt manages crawler access but is neither a privacy barrier nor a guarantee of exclusion. See its introduction to robots.txt. Do not assume you can edit robots.txt or technical tags on Skool’s domain.

Write a complete answer to the visitor’s intent

  1. Start with a specific sentence naming the audience, goal, and format, without promising outcomes you cannot control.
  2. Explain what participation includes: discussions, resources, and sessions, but only when you actually provide them.
  3. Clarify prerequisites, approximate time commitment, and whom the community is not designed for.
  4. Add verifiable context about the person running it and finish with a consistent call to action.

Example: be specific without stuffing the page

A hypothetical product photography community might open with “Practice product photography for your store through weekly reviews.” It could then explain a real activity, equipment requirements, and feedback rules. That is more informative than repeating “best Skool photography community” in every paragraph. Google’s helpful content guidance supports writing for people through descriptive headings and original value; it does not certify rankings for this page or any other community listing.

Evaluate understanding and applications, not just visibility

Save the previous version and change one meaningful element at a time. Record repeated questions, suitable applications, and observable drop-offs. If you use an owned page before Skool, measure visits and outbound clicks there with appropriate tools and permissions. Do not automatically attribute new members to SEO or assume you have Search Console access for Skool’s domain. Avoid invented testimonials, vague claims, and screenshots exposing private member information.

Frequently asked questions

Does posting more inside a private group improve its SEO?

Not by giving Google access to those messages. Protected content remains private; work on the public material an outside visitor can actually read.
