Skool office hours: focused sessions with clear boundaries
Live office hours work better when everyone knows what can be addressed and how to prepare a question.

Organize Skool office hours as bounded consultation sessions: collect questions beforehand, select a manageable number, and end each case with a next step. Do not frame them as unlimited advising. Their usefulness depends on preparing concrete decisions rather than keeping a video call open for a longer period.
Publish the scope, preparation, and conditions
State the topic, facilitator, duration, and exclusions. Ask each question to include context, the pending decision, and what the member has already tried. Schedule the event in the calendar and check the access information. Skool's official overview describes an event calendar with members' local times; that does not replace confirming the facilitator's availability. 1 If you will use an external tool, explain how to join. Also state whether recording is planned and how shared information will be handled during and after the session.
Select cases using visible criteria
Prioritize questions that fit the topic and can move forward with the available information. Rotate participants when demand repeats, and explain what will happen to questions you cannot cover. Do not select only the most impressive cases or promise to address everything. Offer to narrow an overly broad question before rejecting it. This template helps prepare a case without requiring a full dossier. Request only material you will actually review, and allow sensitive names or figures to be replaced with clearly identified fictional data.
I want to decide {decision}. My context is {two sentences}. I have tried {attempt}. I need help comparing {options}. I am sharing {anonymized material} for review during the session, but not for later redistribution.
Example agenda for a forty-five-minute session
In a hypothetical writing community, reserve five minutes for boundaries and context, thirty for three cases, and ten for next steps. Each case addresses one narrative decision, not an entire manuscript. The facilitator confirms the question, discusses one piece of evidence, and proposes a test. If an issue requires reading more material, park it with a concrete alternative. This allocation is a design choice, not a proven optimal duration, and you should reduce the number of cases when they require more context.
Document decisions without exposing attendees
Share a summary of general lessons and authorized next steps. Do not publish recordings, screenshots, or private details without appropriate consent. Track questions received, addressed, and concluded with a defined action; later ask whether that action was feasible. Attendance alone does not demonstrate learning. Avoid turning the summary into another lengthy class or using the session to sell solutions nobody requested.

Do office hours have to be recorded?
No. An anonymized summary may be enough. Choose the format based on the content, consent, and the needs of members who cannot attend.
