Export Skool CSV Files With PowerUpSkool: Permissions, Fields, and Review
Being able to view content does not automatically authorize exporting, retaining, or sharing it.

To export CSV with PowerUpSkool, you need authorization to process the data, an enabled management role, and the corresponding license capabilities. The independent extension can download observed post or member collections; it does not create a complete Skool backup. Check the purpose, scope, and columns before saving or sharing the file, even when you can already view the underlying information.
Separate technical access from authorization
The panel restricts Export to management functionality, and the code checks capabilities for available actions. Posts require the export-csv capability; members require Pro or Agency and management status. A row limit alone does not grant access. That does not replace authorization from the community’s responsible party or an appropriate purpose. Before downloading members, define who needs the file, what work they will perform, and when retention will end. Do not repurpose an export for unrelated campaigns. If your role appears as Member, do not try to force a restricted feature or assume that purchasing a plan changes your community permissions.
What the current files contain
The posts CSV includes index, author, preview, chars, words, links, and signals. Do not describe it as a full-text download with every comment. The members CSV uses name, inactive_days, level, and context available from the collected view. An empty cell can mean a value could not be interpreted, not that it equals zero. Fields can contain personal information even though the file is generated in your browser, so local generation does not remove your responsibility for handling it appropriately.
Download and validate before analyzing
- Open the community and prepare the collection: a scan for posts or an accessible member view.
- Check the detected role and select the CSV type in Export.
- Save the file to an authorized location, not a default shared folder.
- Specify the appropriate delimiter and encoding if your spreadsheet does not recognize them.
- Review headers, rows, accented characters, and missing values before calculating indicators.
Hypothetical example: an open-question report
An authorized manager needs to review questions about a program. She exports posts from the scanned collection, keeps only necessary columns, and checks previews against the original threads. One question received a reply after the scan, so she removes it from the report. She shares only the working summary with the responsible team. The CSV supports a reviewable workflow; it is not a definitive register of unanswered questions or proof that all relevant content was included.
Check the export features before preparing your file.

Frequently asked questions
Does the CSV include billing data or every member’s email?
Do not assume so. The implemented fields described here are neither a complete contact database nor a billing ledger.

A thread with zero comments tells a new member that nobody answers here. That's the most expensive message they can receive.
