12 reactivation message templates for your Skool community
A member who hasn't opened the community in 14 days doesn't need a generic reminder: they need a specific message about something they left half-done.

Most Skool cancellations aren't decided on billing day: they're decided three weeks earlier, when someone stops opening the community and nobody notices. Reactivation is cheaper than acquisition, but it only works if the message lands in the right window and talks about something that person recognises as theirs.
The four reactivation windows
| Window | Signal | Message goal |
|---|---|---|
| Day 3-7 after joining | No post or comment yet | First interaction |
| 7-14 days inactive | Used to participate, went quiet | Return to an open thread |
| 21-30 days inactive | High churn risk | One-to-one conversation |
| After cancelling | Cancellation done | Learn and leave the door open |
Welcome and first interaction
Hi {name}, I saw you joined this week. So you don't get lost: tell me in one sentence what you're working on right now and I'll tell you exactly which classroom lesson to start with. Just reply here.
{name}, there are three people inside with the exact problem you mentioned in your entry question. Here's the thread where they're discussing it: {link}. Comment there and I'll introduce you.
Quick question, {name}: what would you like to have solved 30 days from now? I'll note it and ping you when we publish something useful for it.
Member who went quiet (7-14 days)
{name}, your comment on {thread} was left hanging and someone replied afterwards. Here it is in case you want to pick it up: {link}.
Hey {name}, we're prepping the {date} session on {topic}. I thought of you because you asked exactly that. Shall I save you a spot?
{name}, straight up: is the community working for you as it is? If something doesn't fit, tell me and I'll fix it or help you decide. I'd rather that than you leaving without a word.
High risk (21-30 days)
{name}, it's been a month since you dropped by and I don't want you paying for something you don't use. Two options: I build you a 20-minute plan to get back on track, or I pause your subscription, no drama. Which do you prefer?
Here's what you missed in three bullets: {1}, {2}, {3}. If you only do one thing this week, do the first one.
{name}, I'm holding 15 minutes for you this week to unblock {topic}. No pitch, it's part of your plan. Give me two slots that work for you.
After the cancellation
Thanks for your time inside, {name}. One question and I'll leave you alone: was it price, time, or not what you expected? It really helps me improve.
{name}, we added {improvement} precisely because of what you said when you left. The door is open if you want another look, no strings.
We're opening the {month} cohort. You were a member, so your old price applies if you come back before {date}.
Mistakes that kill reactivation
- Sending the same text to 40 people: if it doesn't mention their thread, question or goal, it reads as automated.
- Only writing right before billing day. Members notice self-interested attention.
- Asking too much in the first message. One message, one action, ideally answerable in the same window.
- Not logging who you wrote to. Without a log you repeat contacts and lose the signal of which template works.
How to measure whether it works
- Log the date, the template used and the member contacted.
- Measure reply rate at 48 hours and activity at 7 days (one post or comment counts).
- Compare 30-day retention of contacted members against inactive members you didn't contact.
- Keep the two or three templates with the best rate and drop the rest.
The hard part isn't writing the message: it's knowing who to write to today. Skool won't tell you who went quiet or since when. PowerUpSkool reads your community, lists members who haven't shown up for days and leaves the message ready in the Today tab, logging who you already contacted.

ContinueFrequently asked questions
Where do I send reactivation messages in Skool?
Via direct message inside Skool for individual outreach, and by email for members who already cancelled, since they lose access to the internal chat.
How many reactivation messages can I send without being annoying?
Two attempts per inactivity cycle, at least seven days apart. If there's no reply to the second, stop writing and wait until you have real news worth sharing.
Does a direct message work better than a feed post?
Direct messages to reactivate a specific person; the feed to reactivate the group. Someone who hasn't opened the community in 21 days will never see your post.

How to reduce churn in your Skool community
Nobody cancels out of nowhere. There are three quiet weeks before it, and they can be seen and reversed.
How to find the unanswered threads in your Skool community
A thread with zero comments tells a new member that nobody answers here. That's the most expensive message they can receive.
How to cancel a subscription, leave a community or delete your Skool account
Cancelling, leaving and deleting your account are three different things in Skool. Mixing them up is the most common cause of unexpected charges.
