How to cancel a subscription, leave a community or delete your Skool account

Cancelling, leaving and deleting your account are three different things in Skool. Mixing them up is the most common cause of unexpected charges.

How to cancel a subscription, leave a community or delete your Skool account
Quick answer: open the community, click your profile picture at the top right, choose Settings, go to that community's billing or subscription section and hit Cancel subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for and there are no further charges. Cancelling does not delete your account, and leaving the community does not stop the billing.

In Skool there are three actions people use interchangeably that aren't the same: cancelling a paid subscription, leaving a community and deleting your whole account. If you leave a community thinking you've cancelled, or cancel believing you've erased your data, the result won't be what you expect. Here's the difference and the right order.

ActionStops charging youYou lose accessErases your data
Cancel the subscriptionYes, at period endAt period endNo
Leave the communityNot alwaysImmediatelyNo
Delete the accountYesImmediately and fullyYes

Cancelling a paid subscription

  1. Log in to Skool from a browser with the account you pay with.
  2. Open your account settings and find the payments or subscriptions section.
  3. Locate the specific community you want to stop paying for: each is billed separately.
  4. Cancel that subscription and confirm. You should see the date your access runs until.
  5. Check that the confirmation email arrives and keep it.

Cancelling usually isn't refunding: normally you keep access until the end of the period already paid for. If you subscribed from the mobile app, also check your app store subscriptions, because management may live there in that case.

Leaving a free community

From the community itself, in your profile or community menu, you'll find the option to leave. It's immediate and doesn't affect the other communities you belong to. If the community was paid, cancel the subscription first and leave afterwards: doing it the other way round can keep billing you.

Deleting your account entirely

  1. Cancel every active subscription first, one by one.
  2. Download or copy anything you want to keep: deleting the account loses history and messages.
  3. In account settings, use the delete account option and confirm.
  4. If you can't find it, write to Skool support requesting erasure of your data.

If you're the owner: what to do when someone cancels

Skool tells you about a cancellation once it has happened, and that notification arrives too late to do anything. The useful signal shows up earlier: a member who hasn't posted or commented for weeks has already decided to leave, even if billing continues another month. If you catch that silence in time, the conversation is about recovery, not goodbye.

  • Review each week who has dropped activity versus the previous scan.
  • Reach out with a specific message about something that person left half-done, not a generic reminder.
  • Log the real reason for every completed cancellation: within a month you'll see a clear pattern.
  • Fix the pattern, not the case: if three cancellations cite the same thing, that's your product problem.

Spot cancellations before they happen with the risk radar.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a refund when I cancel on Skool?

Usually not: you keep access until the end of the paid period. Refunds depend on that specific community owner's policy.

Does leaving the community cancel billing?

Don't assume it does. Cancel the subscription first, confirm you can see the access end date, and only then leave the community.

As an owner, can I see who is about to cancel?

Skool doesn't show it. With an analysis layer over visible activity you can identify members who've gone quiet and act before the next charge.
